A fun and an exciting hike tour. We start in the afternoon when it is still day light by hiking along gorgeous hotspring areas with geothermal water rising from the ground.
We stop to boil eggs in one of the many hotsprings and taste a bread that has been baked in a hotspring for 24 hours. Then as the darkness is coming over we take a dip into a geothermal river and enjoy the sounds of nature in peaceful mountain environment and enjoy an Icelandic dark winter night while looking at stars and if we are lucky we might get the northern lights dancing overhead.
After the bath we turn on our headlights and hike back in the dark and the guide will tell you Icelandic stories about the trolls and the elves that live in the area. It is a great experience that creates memories that are hard to forget.
We are proud to be the only company in Iceland offering true local guides on the Hengill volcanic area. Guides who grew up from a young age bathing in Reykjadalur valley.
Note, this is not a Northern lights tour, but we often get the Northern lights in this tour and then we offcourse stop and enjoy.
